Govt MEA Internship Scheme 2024 

Selection Procedure:

All parts of the selection process, including applications, review, selection, assignment of Division, notification, extension, and certification, will be done online at www.internship.mea.gov.in. The Ministry has its own site just for internships. To be a part of the process, each candidate must first sign up on the internship portal and get entry credentials.

The selection process will consist of two steps viz. Preliminary Screening and Personal Interview. The process will use a “quota cum weightage” method, which means that applicants from 14 States and 4 Union Territories will be looked at each term. See the table below for more information.

It’s possible for there to be 26 interns from 14 states, 2 interns from 4 union territories, and 2 more interns with the best grades from TADP areas or underprivileged groups in society. At least 30% of the positions must be filled by women. The amount of weight will depend on how well you did in school, which will be measured by the percentage of marks you got on your +2 and graduation tests.

Candidates should apply online only. Merit lists will be made for each state, with different lists for male and female candidates based on how well they did on their +2 and graduation exams. Applicants from TADP areas will be given priority during the preliminary screening stage. Applicants from SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories will also be given priority during the personal interview stage.

Three times as many people will be called in for interviews as there will be interns each term. Those whose names are on the merit lists will be contacted for a videoconference discussion with the hiring manager. A maximum of 30 candidates will be chosen from the interview process and offered internships. If any selected candidate opts out, the next candidate in the merit list from the individual state will be offered chance.

During the course of the internship, the selected candidates would be introduced to various aspects of the working of the Ministry, its attached offices, the public interface of the Ministry and its role in helping the Indian citizens.

Allowance:

An salary of INR 10,000 per month will be paid to each intern to defray basic costs. Cost of one-time to and fro air travel subject to a limit of the prevailing economy class air fare between the State capital and Delhi, from the domicile State or from the college / university of the selected candidates will be given. The interns would be responsible for their board and lodging in Delhi during the time of their internship.
